Video marketing is bigger than many people realize or even dare to think. The popularity of YouTube in particular is well enough known, but so many marketers are prone to think of it as another social networking site, and to overlook the marketing potential. Yes, YouTube is effectively a social networking site, and, yes, there are plenty of people using it to just share social video. There are however, more people searching for information and answers on YouTube than any of Google’s competing search engines, and that means the traffic from video marketing is something you cannot afford to overlook.

Many marketers are realizing the great potential of video marketing, and are giving it a lot of time and effort. So often, these marketers are ending up disillusioned because their videos are simply not getting any views, and they are not returning anything for the time and effort which is being put in to creating them. They are then tempted to claim that submitting video content does not pay off, while believing deep down that there has to be a way to make it work if only they could find it. The key is in getting eyeballs to the video, you might say “marketing the marketing material.”

The first essential is to make sure that your video uses the right keywords and search terms in the title, and to use the right tags. This will ensure that the people searching for your topic have a chance of finding your videos, and also gives your video a great chance of showing up in the listings on the right hand side when someone is watching a related video. Use of the right keywords can also get your video a very high ranking in the Google search engine itself, putting you right in front of the very people you are most trying to reach.

Many aspiring video marketers also get stuck at the stage of video creation. The have seen the possibilities, but they don’t know how to actually get a good video on to YouTube in the first place. They can create something with the poor quality camera which comes with a cell phone, but the results will often not project the professional image they are looking for. If you have better video hardware, that is great, but what if you don’t? Well, you can create interesting and informative videos just by creating slide shows, and recording them with free screen capture software.

Once you see the power which video marketing can give you, you will want to step it up and keep creating as many videos as you possibly can. This is where time restrictions come in, unless you can find a way of having other people create the content at incredibly cheap prices. This is possible, because there are so many people in other countries who will relish the idea of doing this easy but interesting work, and for far more money than they could earn in their own economy. You can outsource both the content creation and the making of the final video, creating an entire army of virtual salespeople through video marketing.
